L.J. Smith's the vampire diaries are going to be adapted into a series of movies after Twilight. YAY!

Whoever made fun of my interest in vamps and other likewise fictitious beings, take that!

Cervarix

Took the first jab today. Not as pain as i thought it was. Lol isn't our mind amazing? I mean the part where it comes out with the imaginations that are larger than life and sometimes freaks you out.

Anyway the female gynaecologist who gave me the okay was prettyy. Have to go back to KK next month for second jab and in Nov for the final jab. Ohohoh and i was freaking heavy la! Sheesh. Heavier than i was when i came back from LA. Bloody hell. Seriously it's time to start that exercise regime that i wanted to since last year. Shitshitshit. Who wants to join me?

30 May - 30 Jun DOUBLE UP YOUR LOAN. Hahahha i am so going to chiong books next month please. Toodles

-

Oh yes. The seminar that i'm going for from tmr to thurs is the National Achievers Congress 2009. Lol sounds so freaking formal i'm afraid i'll be underdressed. Admission fee is like $1297. Like totally OMG. Thank goodness my aunt has free tix courtesy of women's weekly.

Speaking of which, yay for Kay Kay who won The S Factor and is awarded 10k and FHM cover and photo shoot. I'm going to buy FHM for the first time. Lol

I'm so going to miss FB, PITNB, BLC, True Bloods (a bit R-rated for my taste but can't help myself since it's vamp theme and adapted from Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series) among other things. Sighs

SOMETHING BIG IS GOING TO HAPPEN, DO YOU FEEL IT?

Met Nicole on 13 on my way home on wed after collecting cert and sgc to run an errand at Bishan. Huiling at Potong Pasir Station while i was on my way home for a much needed nap after trimming my hair on fri. And just yest i saw Stephenie and her bf alighting at Boon Keng while i was on the train.

Maybe it's me, but something tells me smth big is happening. Maybe a shifting of stars or smth of that sort. Cosmic powers or effects.

It's not every week you start bumping into familiar faces just when you are about to start a new phase of your life. I mean what are the odds? It's not like they even live near me, with the exception of Huiling but that's not the point. You know? Even minus-ing the starting of new phase of life part, it's not an every week kind of thing to bump into people i know. At least for me.

Can't believe i'm actually fully occupied for the whole of next week.

Mon: Off to KK to take cervical cancer shot (Gosh it sounds terrifying when i type it out. Somehow it seems more real. Cripes)
Tue - Thu: a "Why the Rich get Richer" seminar at the expo from 9am-9pm (wth? i know! but my aunt had a free tix and she wanted company. shld be staying over at her hse for that period as well. i miss my bed already.)
Fri: some free exercise trial (Again. because my aunt wanted company. makes me wonder sometimes why am i not working?)

Anyway I've got another job lobang. Interested people, talk to me. Don't msg me please cos i'm running on super low of free sms this month. Toodles

THE FACE-OFF

LAST NIGHT:

Paula was being her usual self: drama mama

Kris won the coin toss - opting to go second

Round 1: Adam with Mad World and Kris with his acoustic Ain't No Sunshine on piano. Simon commented that Adam was being over-theatrical what's with the dry ice and the trench coat. Lol
Round 2: Creator's pick. Simon stood on Adam's side.
Round 3: No Boundaries performed by both Kris and Adam, written by Kara DioGuardi.

I personally felt that Kris's version was more soulful and more of a radio hit in the making. But one thing for sure, both albums are going to be great.

TODAY:

Woke up at 0945 to catch results. AND KRIS WON!!!!!! Ryan said there was close to 100 mil votes this time round. Last week had a record of 80 mil. But then when they announced the winner for American Idol 8, it was a little anticlimatic. And Adam for one thing seemed very accepting/

Went for free cossiant and coffee (even though i don't drink) at Intercontinental and was quite surprised by the turnout. Had pepper lunch for well lunch. Lol bad joke, i know i know. And off we went to SAFRA Tampines for a swim with my Aunt. It must be me, cos the laps there were SUPERRRRRR LONGGGGGGG. Did only 18 but no worries cos my own expectations was 15 min and 20 max. Hahahah and please dun be somewhat shocked at my seemingly low expectations, the lap ratio of mine to SAFRA was like 1:1.5 min and roughly 1:2 so i was doing a great job by my own standards. hahahha

Did i mention KRIS WON? BECAUSE HE DID. ASTONISHING, BRILLIANTLY, CAPABLY, and whatev DEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ verbs there are, DID. And the hug at the very very end to his wife was so awwwww.

The first step of adulthood : SG version

Today i did smth an adult in SG would do. My dad persuaded me to get 4-D and toto on his behalf. Hahahah feel so adult-ish even though i didn't really know what i was doing. Just repeated the words my dad said and the person didn't even check my ID lei. Zzz does that mean i actually look old enough now? ZzZzZzZz

Oh and i also went to the bank myself to close an account.

Hahahaha

Who's the vampire in BLOOD: the last vampire?
The trailer was like so b-o-r-i-n-g.

Kris is sucha hottie please. No contest.

(job) VIRGIN NO MORE!

(PS I wanted a catchy title.) YAY so ya. Take that!

Finally no longer a job virgin. Although the experience was quite mm unrewarding in a sense (not monetary wise). There was no big realisation or any lightning or thunder that kind of thing. Which was anticlimatic. But quite an experience i must admit. Perhaps i should have thought it through more carefully before engaging it. Seriously. Job virgin and then add a 12 hours job scope to it? The equation was thoroughly screwed, through and through. Furthermore, i was wearing my mom's pants with no belt buckles so i had to keep pulling it up every now and then, and i was wearing her black shoes as well which didn't have good heel support and I'm still hurting from it right now from the 12 hours standing shift.

14/5 Thu - Isetan Private Sales
0800-2230

Was given breakfast allowance and assigned to Cosmetics but not sure why i end up at Cashier's. Didn't really catch my partner's name, but was quite embarrassed after several attempts of asking her to repeat her name. My job was pretty simple, just packing the merchandise into plastic bags and scotch taped it. Lol

After getting the break schedules, we compared them. Spent the first hour exchanging information, found out Jessly and Jeraldine shared the same slot as me. Lunch and Dinner was non stop chiong, chiong and chionging even though we were given 50min. By the halftime, my feet were bleeding with resentment, hope, resentment, anger all at once.

People were relentless. Please. What economy downturn? Despite several scares like an accidentally triggered fire alarm, and a kid falling from her stroller while on the escalator, they remained undaunted. Rrrgh seriously man the sales were pretty hiong although most of the customers were Koreans, Japs, and Caucasians. A pity we didn't get the opportunity to buy any stuffs, breaks were too short to do anything but queue and eat.

Helped my cashier count small changes and I was done for the day. She was like um can you help me to tally up totally unsure of my integrity. Lol can't say i blame her. But anyways. By the time i was done, i was still the first to end work. Went up to 3rd floor after checking with the peeps on my level who were still knee deep buried in work. Blahblahblah anyway so after awhile we went home.

Almost missed the last bus home from Bishan but thankfully. Reached homw around 12plus and was bloody locked outside. Lucky for me, WJ was still awake mugging, YT was being a total pig. After picking up my distress call she happily went back to slp. Seriously man. Anyway went to bed at 1plus and got up at 5plus the next day.

15/5 Fri MGS ZBG Day Matrix Race
0630-1300

Almost overslept. See the thing was, i set my alarm at 515 but i consciously switched it off then mom came in at 537 and i shot straight up in bed. Was feeling quite guilty after pressuring S not to be late under any circumstances and i conveniently overslept. Anyway managed to picked S from the bus stop outside at 605.

Was assigned to Laser Beam which was at the track. It was an easy enough station where students only have to run round the tracks to get points. First round completed as a team to be awarded 3000 pts after which each subsequent round was 1000 pts each. The PVs assigned to me were super friendly and funny. Seriously. I had a good time even though i had to suffer the blazing sun throughout the day.

The upper primary kids had their turn first, followed by the lower pri kids. Man oh man. How i missed those carefree days! Those naivety and sweet innocence. The lower pri kids were of course more cooperative and high in terms of atmosphere wise.

Debriefed at MACS at King Albert's after packing up. MAD people were really a crazy bunch but nice to be around with. Head Anne, Albert, Shu, Jermaine, Melvin, Arthur and some some. Great team/.

I'm fighting a losing battle with P

If I had a dollar for every time ...

/And I don't want Adam to win!.... He's too flamboyant. At the same time, I don't see Danny Gokey nor Kris Allen as the next American Idol.

I'm bored out of my wits. Why can't something fall from the sky?

Dear You's

I was doing the usual routine - just going up the line, catching up on the daily scoops of peeps I know and linked - I started from the bottom.

A serious sidenote: if I were to link only peeps who's lives they blogged about, and I read about there would undoubtedly be less than 10 of them.

And yes, I am that bored to the extent I do the same routine everytime I switched the PC on. Anyway, I was at Amanda's, and I caught up with a LJ site that she's a fan of. And really, I found myself hooked like she said. It's a LJ account where randomies blog using the pretext of a letter, but it's fascinating to simply read about what they wrote. Some wrote to their boyfriends, themselves, friends, family, God, simple random things even. I suppose being anonymous allows you that uncharacteristic freedom that sets even your deepest darkest secret free. To have that ultimate freedom, priceless. Then again, you wonder about how advanced technology has become, perhaps tracking the writer down is a feat alike to abc?

Sure there were people just bitching about some one else, but really, sometimes you surprise yourself with how some are simply thankful of today, being alive as it is.

Anyway, due to the time I've had, I imagined mine would pretty much sound like this:

Dear Weather,

Please make up your mind and stop being so hot and cold the whole day will ya? I've never knew anyone as fickle as you. Sometimes, I think you need to grow up more than I do.

PS You do a better impression that Katy Perry. And no, it's not a compliment.

Well wishes,
Me

Dear Time,

Why do I have so much of you, when I don't need you? And when I do, you're scarce. I really don't have a clue how to deal with you.

With love, (and lots of you)
Me

Dear Procrastination AKA Sloth (one of the 7 Evils),

Would you please get the hell away from me? I swear I've had enough of your existence in my life for 18 years and counting. Are you and Time ganging up on me? Seriously.

So what if you've won the battle for now? I'm just getting warmed up. For old times' sake, a don't-say-I-didn't-warn-you tip; my backup plan involves a certain exorcism that will banish you from my life forever and ever. In fact, I'm looking forward to hooking up with Order.

May Goodness be with you, and the force be with me.

With determination and no love,
Me

Dear Flu bug,

How have you been? You know I've been fine until you came along in case you're wondering. In fact I was doing good. Just as I finally decided and determined to work, my virgin job in fact, you decide to come springing on me? Are you kidding me?! I really don't appreciate you here in my life, at this point. So do what you have to. GO AWAY. Please?

With resentment and hope,
Me

Dear Job-to-be,

I'm really glad that so far, things are still looking good between the two of us despite FB. Although, I've never met you, I have a feeling we're be good together. Beats me and P anyway. I've already planned out to an intrinsic detail how things would go and such. And hopefully, things will go smooth on our first date on Thursday and thereafter.

Yours sincerely, (and crossing my fingers and toes)
Me

Hahahaha how's that for starters? Pretty good, aye?

Oh, one last one.

Dear NUS,

Why haven't I heard from you? I know you know that I haven't been exactly what I'm supposed to be, and that I fall short of your expectations, but can you please give me something, anything? I'm over my no-news-is-good-news and live-today-for-today-and-tomorrow-for-tomorrow phases.

With patience and utmost sincerity,
Me

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

(CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO VIEW THE ENLARGED SIZE, TO SEE THE KIND OF OSCAR SHE HOLDS IN HER HAND.)

COURTESY OF WIKI:

The modern Mother's Day holiday was created by Anna Jarvis and it's now celebrated on various days in many places around the world. It complements Father's Day, the celebration honoring fathers.

This holiday is relatively modern, being created at the start of the 20th century, and should not be confused with the early pagan and Christian traditions honoring mothers, or with the 16th century celebration of Mothering Sunday, which is also known as Mother's Day in the UK. (Sundays are pretty memorable huh? Rmb SS - Bloody Sunday in N Ireland?)

In most countries the Mother's Day celebration is a recent holiday derived from the Mothering Sunday holiday in the UK.

It is celebrated in Australia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia, India, Canada, and United States each year on the second Sunday of May.

History:
Different countries celebrate Mother's Day on various days of the year because the day has a number of different origins.

One school of thought claims this day emerged from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece, which kept a festival to Cybele, a great mother of Greek gods. This festival was held around the Vernal Equinox around Asia Minor and eventually in Rome itself from the Ides of March (15 March) to 18 March.

The ancient Romans also had another holiday, Matronalia, that was dedicated to Juno, though mothers were usually given gifts on this day.

In most countries, Mother's Day is a recent observance derived from the holiday as it has evolved in North America and Europe. Many African countries adopted the idea of one Mother's Day from the British tradition, although there are many festivals and events celebrating mothers within the many diverse cultures on the African continent that long pre-date colonization. In Nepal and other hindu tradition, its called "Mata Tirtha Aunshi" or "Mother Pilgrimage fortnight".

Did you know?
Nine years after the first official Mother's Day, commercialization of the U.S. holiday became so rampant that Anna Jarvis herself became a major opponent of what the holiday had become and spent all her inheritance and the rest of her life fighting what she saw as an abuse of the celebration.

Later commercial and other exploitations of the use of Mother's Day infuriated Anna and she made her criticisms explicitly known throughout her time.[16][1] She criticized the practice of purchasing greeting cards, which she saw as a sign of being too lazy to write a personal letter. She was arrested in 1948 for disturbing the peace while protesting against the commercialization of Mother's Day, and she finally said that she "wished she would have never started the day because it became so out of control ...".

Economic Effects: (lol)
Mother's Day continues to this day to be one of the most commercially-successful U.S. occasions. According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother's Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States.

For example, according to IBISWorld, a publisher of business research, Americans will spend approximately $2.6 billion on flowers, $1.53 billion on pampering gifts—like spa treatments—and another $68 million on greeting cards.

Mother's Day will generate about 7.8% of the U.S. jewelry industry's annual revenue in 2008, with custom gifts like mother's rings.

BTW, MSN'S 10 questions to ask your mom article is fascinating.

Maybe i'll ask my mom soon. Not today. We uhh kinda had a minor disagreement. Next year?
